God’s Love in Me

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.

1 John 4:16 NLT

Here’s a thought—if God is love and God lives in me, then I have love living in me!

So, what is God’s love like?

First, His love is unconditional. He doesn’t love me only when I am good. He loves me when I’m not so good. He loves me when I disobey His will. He loves me when I try to hide from Him. He loves me, period.

Then I should love others unconditionally. That doesn’t mean I will allow others to harm me, abuse me, or misuse me. I can set boundaries to the level of trust someone receives from me, but I can still love them.

Second, God’s love is not something we earn. He gives His love freely to all who will receive it.

So, I should not require someone to earn my love. They are a creation of God, and I will love them.

True love is life-transforming. When we choose to love others—regardless of who they are, where they are been, or what they have done—then we become transformation agents in their lives. And that kind of love transforms us. We become transformed because of God’s love flowing through us.

Holy Spirit, help me to be a person of love. Help me allow Your love to be on display daily in my life.
