Strong Relationships

We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.

1 John 3:16 NLT

Do I only attend church when I don’t have anything else to do? Or do I make church attendance a priority in my life?

Do I only join a small group when I’m bored? Or do I make building relationships in the church a priority?

The Bible says we “ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.” I don’t believe the Bible was just talking about physically dying for our brothers and sisters. I believe we were being challenged to make spending time with our brothers and sisters in the church family a priority in our lives.

Life should not be all about me—what I want and need. I should be committed to living my life for the sake of others.

Relationships are messy. People think and act differently, and sometimes, they are weird. But learning to love each other in the church is how we learn to love people in the world. The church is actually a training ground for how to build strong personal relationships.

Holy Spirit, please help me to prioritize building strong relationships within my local church. Help me grow in my ability to love and serve others.
