God’s Compassion

Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!

Micah 7:19 NLT

How does God treat our sins?

When we confess (which means we admit we have sinned) and repent (which means we turn away from our sin), then God takes our sins and tramples on them and casts them into the “depths of the ocean.”

I get this mental picture of God jumping up and down on my sins to break them into pieces and then throwing them into the depths of the ocean. I think God also puts up a sign that says, “No Fishing.” He doesn’t want us going and trying to dig up our old sins.

God’s grace wants to destroy and remove our sins from our lives. He wants to totally free us from the control and consequences of all sin.

God is not a god who constantly brings up our past failures. He is not judging us on those sins that we confessed and repented of. He is wanting to work with us and for us to free us from the control and consequences of sin.

God showed us how interested He is in our freedom and forgiveness by sending Jesus to the cross to carry our sins and the judgment of our sins.

Heavenly Father, I thank You today that You have thrown my sins into the depths of the ocean. Thanks that I am free today.
