Be an Inviter
The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, “Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?” So the people came streaming from the village to see him.
John 4:28-30 NLT
Jesus stopped by a well in Samaria and had a conversation with a Samaritan woman. She was shocked He would talk to her and even more shocked when Jesus revealed her past failures. He offered her living water that would quench her thirsty soul. The woman had been looking in all the wrong places to fill a thirst only Jesus could satisfy. Jesus revealed His true identity to this woman as the Messiah.
The result of the conversation was the woman ran back to town and told everyone to come and see Jesus. There was quite a stir in town, and everyone came out to hear what Jesus had to say. The result of one conversation became a transformation for an entire town.
There is power in having conversations with people. And there is power in making an invitation.
The woman was not content to keep what she had found to herself. She wanted others to know about this man called Jesus. She became an inviter.
When we truly encounter the transformational power of Jesus, we want to invite others to share this experience. Sometimes, that invitation is to a worship service. Sometimes, it starts with an invite to a small group or special event. But we should all be looking for opportunities to invite others to experience Jesus.
Holy Spirit, please help me to know who, when, and how to invite others to experience the transformation that Jesus brings. Help me this week to be an inviter.
