Now there was a good and righteous man named Joseph. He was a member of the Jewish high council, but he had not agreed with the decision and actions of the other religious leaders. He was from the town of Arimathea in Judea, and he was waiting for the Kingdom of God to come. He went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. Then he took the body down from the cross and wrapped it in a long sheet of linen cloth and laid it in a new tomb that had been carved out of rock. This was done late on Friday afternoon, the day of preparation, as the Sabbath was about to begin. As his body was taken away, the women from Galilee followed and saw the tomb where his body was placed.

Luke 23:50-55 NLT

It was Friday afternoon. Jesus was dead. They are burying His cold body. Their dreams and hopes were being buried with Jesus. It seemed everything was lost.

Saturday now comes. What do you do on Saturday? For the Jews, it is Sabbath. The women wait on Saturday to take their spices to the tomb to properly embalm the body of Jesus. They think they are waiting for the job of embalming—they don’t realize what is one day away.

Life often finds us stuck between death and the resurrection. Stuck in fear, confusion, and hopelessness. Everything seems lost—our dreams and our plans are crushed. Stuck in the gap.

But today, we need to pause and remember that Sunday is always coming. There is a resurrection. A resurrection of our dreams and hopes. A resurrection of life.

If your dreams are dead, you are a candidate for a resurrection. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you where to start looking. God has a resurrection for you.

Holy Spirit, please show me where my resurrection is coming. Help me to believe in Your resurrection power.
